Life Plan: Balancing Act Today

What a wild week of ups and downs and everything in between. It's a challenge this week to keep your work, hopes, dreams, bank account, expectations and yourself in balance.

Why does it matter? Well, as someone famous recommended, "all things in moderation" as a way towards a happy manageable life. I'm much in favor of this.

So I'll ask you today, can you bring these three things into balance, but just for today, okay: food, exercise, sleep. Try this today, eat really delicious fresh food, and not very much of it. Also, eat some delicious dessert too, why not, go ahead, as long as you balance it with other great healthy food.

Take a one hour exercise break, which should probably be walking if you can do it. (If the weather doesn't permit, go walk in a gym or a mall, there has to be SOME PLACE you can spend an hour just walking.) And sleep, go to bed an hour earlier than usual, because if you're like most people, you're not sleeping enough.

As for your really delicious food strategy today, start by thinking of one thing you love to eat and haven't eaten lately -- one in the fruit column and one in the veggie column (even if you don't like either, do it today, please).

Here's mine: I love apricots and I love red cabbage. Write down your two choices. Get some today. Base your lunch around one of them and your dinner around the other. You can even base your one hour walk around getting your fruit and veggie. And get that cake if you want it. It's okay with me. A SMALL delicious slice of cake is okay today.

Good food, good exercise, good sleep. Just do those today.
