A Most Beautiful Fall Day For Carfree Commuting

I was telling a new acquaintance about my NO DRIVING program and today was so warm and beautiful, it occurred to me that one of the unexpected benefits of not using my car was the tremendous quality of life improvement in terms of how you get places.

This morning I followed our woodsy autumnal-leaf-strewn path into Arlington -- absolutely beautiful way to commute -- on my bike, then parked my bike and took the bus into Harvard Square. It gave me a gorgeous view of the woods, a lot of exercise, a quiet, nearly empty path, avoiding the unpleasantness of driving.

True, on days with crappy weather, this all gets turned upside down. Still it's worth it all on a day like today.
