In The Blink Of An Eye

There is an illusion of order and permanence to our lives.

In the dining room, pink flowers on the table. In the kitchen, homey blue plates, other simple stacks of dishes in varied sizes neatly arranged on kitchen cabinets. In the bedroom, the calm bedspreaded beds, pale lilac, with pillows and under the covers, clean sheets with tight hospital corners. In the bath, a clean place where you can get cleaner, the freshly laundered bath towels bright white, folded nicely on bathroom shelves. Comforting and taken for granted. Nothing could disrupt it.

Don't be fooled. Once again we're reminded that chaos can be visited upon you in the blink of an eye.

To hear news reporters talk about flood waters swirling around people, containing snakes, alligators, dead bodies ... incomprehensible.
