Greyed Out

I think the concept of a menu with things greyed out and therefore unpickable is interesting if applied to the real world.

Whenever I encounter it in software, I find it really annoying, as if there were someone in charge, roping off certain exhibits in a museum, "Not Open To The Public Today" and of course I find those to be the most interesting exhibits. I want to look over the shoulder of the guard to see what's back there.

One time, I asked a shy, sexy, geeky guy who I liked very much if "kissing" were greyed out on his menu. He gave me a good answer, "No," and smiled.
