"He Killed Your Brother"

Tony loves Maria. He's white, she's Puerto Rican. Big trouble. Maria's brother Bernardo tells her not to go out with him. Long story short -- Tony ends up holding the knife as her brother lies there bleeding to death in the rumble. He tried to stop it. One of the gang guys comes to tell Maria (Natalie Wood) what happened and spits out "he killed your brother!" Not good. Not good at all.

Cut to the song, "There's A Place For Us." Yeah, there's a place for the two lovers, but it might be up the river at Sing Sing -- that's the problem.
