Abundant Sunshine

I ask my kid to read the weather on The Weather Channel to improve his newly developed reading skills. He's got most of the "partly cloudy" and "snow and sleet" and "scattered showers" lingo down for Boston.

This morning we had a prediction he hadn't seen lately in winter -- "abundant sunshine" -- which got us out the door early on our bikes,a bit after 9:45am. To enjoy a long bike ride in Boston on January 1st is nearly unheard of. A snowshoe expedition -- yes. A cross-country ski tour -- sure. But a nice, dry road, bracingly cool but sunny bike ride! Wow! We had a great trip.

The temperature was around 45 but has started to fall and should reach the high 20's tonight.
