President Yes-It-Really-Happened-Today Obama
Oh, me of little faith. It really DID happen today. Even since November when I knew he won, it never seemed really real. But today ended all that. It really really happened today. Barack Obama, yes, wait for it ... yes, Barack Obama is president!!!!Sunday, January 18, 2009
Replacing 9/11 with 1/15 and Bush with Obama
There's something haunting about the wonderful good news of a truly frightening plane crash followed by a perfectly executed rescue effort in the great city of New York on January 15th, a nearly miraculous safe landing by a pilot named Sully, resulting in no fatalities, in that city that endured the disaster of September 11th.Is it the end of a chapter, the beginning of a new time in our nation, an era of lucky breaks, great skillful teamwork and miraculous events that can breed hope instead of fear?
Can we kick-start a new era of optimism by thinking of the wonder of 1/15, not the dread of 9/11, as we see Bush (and his fearful administration) leave and Obama (and his hopeful team) arrive? Please let me believe that.
Snow Toast Warm Kitchen
I worked this morning from 5:30am to just now ... around 11:30am at the gym where I'm a personal trainer. Not much personal training going on for me because we have a blizzard and the front desk people just didn't show up, so I jumped in to do that job too.We have a lot of snow and they had been saying 2 to 3 inches, but even at the crack of dawn, when I first got to the gym at 5:30, there was already more than 3 inches and the stuff keeps falling. When I left my job around 11:30, I had to clean off my car AGAIN, another 3 inches of very light fluffy stuff.
Finally back in the warm kitchen, with toast, soft boiled eggs, tea. Looking forward to Obama Rock Concert direct from the Lincoln Monument at 2:00! Done for the day!!! Party!

Long Time No Talk
It's funny. All these applications that let you reconnect with people from your high school yearbook or whatever, I've never been keen on them, but today I got to talk to a friend who I knew when I was ... well about 8 years old until I was about 14, then we slowly fell out of touch. It was so terrific to talk to her. Now to figure out a way to meet!Thursday, January 01, 2009
Do It Today
They say that what you do on January 1 of a brand new year will set the tone for the whole year. So do a tiny slice of any resolution you've made.If you've made a resolution to be in better physical shape, take the shortest walk or run, even 15 minutes will get you started. If you've made a resolution to be in better fiscal shape, look at the state of your accounts, just fast, just take a quick financial snapshot of where you are. If you've resolved to fix a broken relationship, call that person, and don't get into a heavy thing ... just wish them a Happy New Year.
Take a tiny bite today. No big deals. Or, if you haven't made any resolutions, think one up.
