Entrepreneurial Bravery In Times Like These

I hope next week's EmTech conference at MIT, sponsored by the Tech Review under the excellent leadership of Jason Pontin gives some attention to what entrepreneurs and innovators really need to remember in these turbulent times.

We need to hold it together, keep calm, believe in ourselves and build new businesses. That's it. It's that simple. Be brave and bold in your approach.

In this topsy turvy economic environment, where funding may be harder and harder to find, we need to remember how much fun it is to be brave and resourceful, to think far beyond next week, next month or next year, to build a brand new world.

Whatever your party affiliation, if you're an entrepreneur, you're a patriot. You feed people by making new jobs, new products, new industries. It was always the most exciting thing as a CEO of a start-up for me, to see our offices fill up with people we had hired, to see the pay checks delivered, to know we were putting food on the table for these able, excited, creative co-innovators. It was a thrill.

We entrepreneurs think differently ... yes, it's time to think different from the doom and gloomsters of Wall Street. Yes, we're the crazy ones. Think brave!
